It has taken a long while to fall into a rhythm of anything. As a Taurus Sun I thrive on stability and the ability to predict what would happen next. I actually wrote a short story called the Oracle & The Knight which is loosely within my Dragon Warriors World. You can get that here. More of my writings are going to be under my pen name R. Z. Walton. It’s a way to give an ode to my father, who always treated me like as smart grown up human being answering my questions earnestly and admitting when he did not know the answer.
I think with so much availability of intel and data; we can become overwhelmed. I grew up in the 90s; and while none of my friends had the internet - I had the ability to make webpages on Angelfire and do research on Sailor Moon beyond the dub on YTV that I was able to watch after school.
What I think is important here, is resonance. I’ll give you an example. Growing up in Winnipeg; car culture was a big thing - souping up your Honda civic; as well as Import Magazines and car shows were a thing. And yes, I got to be a cute car model. I remember Tila Tequila before she was a reality tv show star. Now I’m giving you this background because when Fast & the Furious came out, it was all about the cars. And when all of my friends and I went to watch Fast & the Furious for the first time (my favorite one is the second movie, don’t kill me haha) - of course each of us is going to have our favorite cars, our favorite lines, etc.
We are interfacing with the story in a unique way. And on another hand, a friend may not have watched the movie at all and thus doesn’t get the inside jokes created by those who have watched the movie.
Supergirl as a comic book heroine is unique because her origin story is not one that is set in stone. She reminds me of goddesses of myth, in the sense that there are multiple tales about her… because she is more of an energy and an archetype and a mantle that is an inspiration to uphold.
